North Midlands Regional Dressage Qualifiers 2023

Five RDA groups from across our region took part in the Regional Dressage Qualifiers on Monday 22nd May at Scropton Horse Centre, Derbyshire. 31 competitors representing Belvoir Vale, Cleethorpes & Grimsby, Helen Atkins, Scropton and Wenlo rode down the centreline in glorious sunshine.

We were lucky to have Moira Richardson judge the 35 tests and award rosettes at our prize giving as well as presenting two special awards for the highest score of the day in both junior and senior classes.

Our Dressage judge Moira Richardson on the event:

“What an amazing and enjoyable day I had judging the regional qualifiers. The sun shone almost as brightly as the smiles coming down the centre line. The standard was high and the competition tough! I think some fantastic combinations will be heading to Hartpury to fly the flag for their RDA group and for the North Midlands. Well done to everyone who took part, it was a real pleasure to be with you all.” Said Moira.

Grace Cuddington of Belvoir Vale RDA was awarded the shield for highest junior score of 71.5%. Emma Godber from Scropton RDA who was competing for the first time was awarded the trophy for the highest senior score of 70%. Both were delighted with their achievements.

Massive congratulations to all of our competitors who have qualified for the RDA National Championships. 23 of the riders taking part qualified to go on the National Championships, representing their RDA groups and the North Midlands region.

Thank you Event Volunteers!

Huge thanks goes to all of the event volunteers including the writer, scorers, stewards, first aid & safeguarding and also to the volunteers across five groups for their support. Event volunteers were presented with golden ‘thank you’ rosette from Emma Wells, RDA UK Board member. The hard work of all the volunteers made it possible for the participants to have this chance to compete and qualify for the RDA National Championships.

This year we ran the Show Jumping Qualifiers virtually, judged by Claire Pope with three riders from Scropton RDA qualifying for the National Championships. We’re looking forward to our Countryside Challenge Qualifier on 5th June when more participants from the North Midlands region will have the chance to compete and qualify. Then the countdown to the national Championships in July will really begin!
