North Midlands Regional Dressage Qualifiers 2022

Monday 9th May 2022

We are delighted that this year we could run face-to face regional competitions again after our Regional Qualifiers had been cancelled by RDA UK for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic!

Our Regional Dressage Qualifier took place on Monday 9th May 2022 at Scropton RDA Centre in Derbyshire. We welcomed five groups across the region with 30 participants representing Belvoir Vale, Cleethorpes & Grimsby, Helen Atkins, Scropton and Wenlo.

Chloe Wilson of Belvoir Vale got the competition underway in the sunshine in the outside arena which was a great start to the morning session. We had lots of participants riding down the centre line for first time including Georgia Mackay, Olivia Langley and Jessica Limb, all of whom secured their qualification to compete at RDA National Championships in July.

Lisa and Mark Griffin’s final RDA regional competition…..

Following Para Home International success at the weekend, Lisa and Mark Griffin continued their success with Indie here at Scropton RDA Centre and coming home with great scores as they proudly have qualified for RDA National Championship together. It’s been really fantastic to watch them in action over past few years. This will be their last RDA regional competition as their RDA journey is coming to the end as they are now moving to compete Para Dressage more so we wish them best of luck in their new chapter.

Gabriella Blake who is currently on BD’s Para Dressage Podium Potential Pathway squad made an appearance supporting the event. We were really lucky to have her present rosettes to our morning competitors. Competitors had the chance to hear about her journey from competing in her first ever RDA competition in 2012 to being on the World Class Programme as a Podium Potential Pathway athlete.

Moira Richardson spent the day judging for us and joined us for the afternoon prize giving. She proudly presented two special awards for the highest score in both Junior and Senior classes.

“Have thoroughly enjoyed my day at Scropton RDA, judging the RDA regionals - never fail to be inspired by the riders and there were some fabulous tests!” said Moria.

The highest score for all junior classes goes to Erin Bowles from Wenlo RDA in Leicestershire with 72.4% in the Grade 7 Walk & Trot class whilst Jessica Limb of Helen Atkins RDA taking part in her first RDA regional competition gained the highest score for all senior classes with 69.7%. This was really fantastic as it was the group’s first time in competing at the Dressage Qualifiers.

Congratulations to all the riders who have qualified for the RDA National Championships in July and a very big well done to everyone who participated at this event.

We want to say a big thank you to all of the volunteers including scorers, ring stewards and the volunteers across five groups for their support towards the Dressage Qualifiers at Scropton. You all helped us to make it happen for the participants who had the chance to compete at the event.

Also a big thank you to photographer Nigel Kirby who worked tirelessly to capture over fantastic 1,200 images during the day. He regularly supports RDA events and will be back for the Countryside Challenge qualifiers on Monday 23rd May. You can now have a look at the photos online by clicking here
