Nottinghamshire
Dovecote Group
The group was started in 1998 by Heather Gunn at Dovecote Farm Equestrian Centre Orston Nottinghamshire. Facilities include one indoor and two outdoor arenas, an enclosed field and a clubhouse. We currently teach ten to twelve children with learning difficulties, from two different schools on Wednesday mornings during term time. Where possible we endeavour to offer the children the chance to attend outside competitions and Fun Days: but our main emphasis is for the children to have a beneficial and enjoyable experience and leave with a smile.

Formed in 1985 and originally based in Retford, Nottinghamshire, Retford & District RDA is still going strong! We moved to Kirkfields Equestrian Centre in 2014 and meet there every Wednesday evening. We currently have eight riders in our group, ranging in age from 8 to 40 years old. Our instructors work hard to improve the riders’ skills and devise Pony Club-type games to make our sessions great fun as well. We are very lucky in that we have the use of an indoor and outdoor school as well as beautiful hacking on the tracks in Sherwood Forest directly behind the stables. We’re a lively and social group of riders, parents and volunteers - as well as competing in local events such as the Handy Pony class at the Southwell Ploughing Match, we get together for social events such as skittles, meals out and our annual trip to the Pantomime in Nottingham. Oh yes we do…..!

We ride on a Thursday afternoon during term time at The Meadows School of Riding, Normanton-On-Soar. Ruddington Group was formed in 1988 by a few friends in order to help children with severe learning difficulties from local schools. At present we have about eight children from Nethergate School in Clifton who ride with us. Their abilities vary, riding has definitely given them confidence, and it is a joy to us to see each child's progress. We have competed at Regional and National level, and have reached the National Championships on two occasions

Belvoir Vale RDA is a small and friendly new group situated in the beautiful village of Colston Bassett at Belle Vue Stables. To ensure our riders have the best possible experience, riding sessions are held with a very small number of riders. We are lucky to have three qualified RDA coaches together with a wonderful team of ponies and horses so we can cater for both adults and children. We offer lessons in the arena, walks in the country, summer schools and the chance to compete in both Regional and National events.
