Lisa Griffin's RDA 50 Story to celebrate 50 years...(September 30, 2019)
Riding for the Disabled begins their 50th Anniversary Celebrations Week from 30th September to 6th October 2019 by celebrate 50 years of fun, therapy and achievements through the horses since 1969.
Lisa Griffin from Cleethorpes & Grimsby explains her RDA 50 story here:
As well as this year being the 50th anniversary of the RDA it has been a big year for myself!! I turned 50 too. My name is Lisa Griffin and I have been riding for Cleethorpes & Grimsby RDA group for 6 years. I ride alongside my husband Mark Griffin who introduced me to RDA before we were married. It's probably rather unusual to have a husband and wife ride together and compete within an RDA group.
We do often end up competing against each other, which is funny at times as we are both super competitive. We also have a little girl Teagan age 4 who is already an avid rider.
It has definitely been a big year as well as qualifying for the National Championships, I went on to win both my Walk, Trot & Canter Championship and Freestyle to music test on a borrowed riding school horse Hermes as my loan horse Beau (SBE Boudica ) became injured 2 weeks before.
The championships were fantastic and it such a great feeling being at Hartpury competing where everyone is so supportive of one another. I also started showjumping at the age of 50. I absolutely love it and my ambition is to qualify for next year's RDA National Championships and go on to Para Showjumping as well as do my first Para Dressage intro test this year.
2019 has been a great year being part of the RDA family and let's look forward to many happy years of riding to come!
