Mid Derbyshire RDA's incredible 40th Anniversary alongside HRH The Princess Royal!

On Tuesday 15th of January, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal went to Mid Derbyshire Riding for the Disabled in Derbyshire joining them to celebrate their 40th anniversary success during the Royal Visit. Princess Royal actually opened its the centre in 1979 before become the President of Riding for the Disabled Association in 1985.

Her Royal Highness were treated with an special riding demonstration before presenting their rosettes to riders and volunteers of Mid Derbyshire RDA group, and some long service awards to the ponies including Zilka, Taffy, Millie and Sally for their incredible contribution to RDA. Shirley Kay from Cleethorpes & Grimsby Riding for the Disabled recieved the RDA President's Award from Princess Royal as Shirley has been recognised for setting up its the group over past 30 years with the addition of her positivity helped in raising the profile of both the group and the needs of disabled people in the area.

Diana Haddon of Ruddington RDA was recognised for her exceptional dedication to the Ruddington Riding for the Disabled group, Dianna was a Founder Member of the group and has worked tirelessly for the past thirty years contributing to the smooth running of the group by simultaneously holding the roles of Hon. Secetary, Coach, Trustee and First Aider and fundraiser - At the group's 30th Anniversary celebrations last year Dianna was presented with the 30-year Long Service Award.

Emma Wells, RDA Trustee & Chair elected Sarah, Clarissa Howkins, North Midlands Chairmen Maria Holdaway and Chris Marbow, Regional Derbyshire County Chair also in attendance to joining the group to celebrating this achievement.

Sam Orde, former Chair of RDA UK on the Mid Derbyshire's Royal Visit success:

'It was lovely to see a tremendous number of riders, volunteers and 
supporters welcome RDA's President HRH The Princess Royal to their Mid Derbyshire Group. We all enjoyed seeing the Princess present well 
deserved RDA long service awards and rosettes. There was heart felt 
applause as on cutting the 40th Anniversary cake, the Princess wished 
the Group many more successful years. I am sure that this will be the 
case and on behalf of RDA National congratulate the Mid Derbyshire team!'

We look forward to seeing more celebrations from Mid Derbyshire RDA this year, and would like to congratulate their 40th Anniversary behalf of North Midlands region.
